It was Law No. 973, of 2 January 1903, that created the first of the Titles and Documents Registry Offices – denominated 1st Privative and Lifelong Office of the Facultative Registry of Titles, Documents and Other Papers – and invested these institutions with the responsibility of guaranteeing documents’ authenticity, maintenance and perpetuation, in Brasil, a task formerly designed to the Notaries Public.
And it was Decree-Law No. 1.068, of 23 January 1939, signed by President Getúlio Vargas, that created the 6º Ofício de Registro de Títulos e Documentos da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro (6th Titles and Documents Registry Office in Rio de Janeiro).
The 6º ORTD made its first registration on March, 16th , 1939 – that of a manuscript guarantee letter which granted a certain citizen named Otávio da Silva Barboza the right to dwell, as a tenant, at Av. Suburbana (presently Dom Hélder Câmara), 2897, in Rio de Janeiro.
Since then, following the XXth Century‘s notable sociopolitical and technological development, as well as the evil side of this astonishing progress – the social exclusion process generated by the organizational revolution of Labor, prompted mainly by Informatics – the 6º ORTD has been developing several social actions that contribute significantly for the sustainable regeneration of the deprived communities, studying and adapting to the increasing needs and dreams of the Brazilian citizens, in order to be able to support them.
Nowadays, darted into the XXI Century, duly established in downtown Rio de Janeiro, having not only optimized the quality and security of its services, but also engaged wholeheartedly in the fight for human misery, the 6º ORTD improves its attendance to its clients day by day, guaranteeing them the thorough exercising of their citizenship. |
